Power Outages cause too many problems!

Wow! Did we ever have a wind storm on Sunday. We reached gusts up to 75mph - thats major for our area. We're used to minor winds living up here on the lake but these winds were fierce! On top of the winds we had ALOT of rain, for DAYS. The 2' of snow we had was washed away by the rain leaving huge ponds in our backyard. A big pine tree was uprooted onto the power lines down the road making for no incoming or outgoing travel, so we lost power for a good 7 hours! When you have to have power to run your sump pump and the power goes out and the yard is flooded it causes a huge problem! Im talking BIGTIME flooded here. Luckily my appliances that are in the basement are up on platforms and blocks so none of that was damaged. All of my Christmas boxes got ruined but I am thanking my lucky stars thats the only thing.

Yesterday morning my cable, internet and phone went out. We have the all in one thru Time Warner. It made for a LONG 2 days having NO phone, no tv and no internet. I did get alot of sewing done not having the technology distractions so it was kind of a good thing!

I sure did miss my tv and internet tho....
Ive got alot of catching up to do but its now bathtime so it will have to wait.

Not sure when Ill get back so Im wishing you all a Happy New Year! I am staying home again this yr. I told Jas I dont think I will EVER leave my house on New Years again, unless there is an emergency.

Here are a few pics of the kids on Christmas.

I hate it when my power goes out!
We usually play Yahtzee by candlelight when it does.
Glad everything is up and running again.
I love that picture of the kids!

(My girlfriend is up in Hilton right now, and I bet they had big problems there too.)

Whatcha been working on?

I totally understand your frustration about losing the amenities we are so used to having! It reeks! So sorry about your Christmas boxes gettign wet, but maybe not all is lost in them.
Love the pics of the kids! And yes, PLEASE stay home tomorrow night! I wish I could convince everyone I care about to stay home and be safe. I'm all for celebrating (at home!), but I am always a nervous wreck until I know everybody is okay.
Have a wonderful New Year, Jenn!

My parents were without power for 8 days - many in MA were without it for 11 days after our ice storm. We really are dependent on it.

Looks like the kids had fun!! Seeing them open their gifts is priceless!

HAPPY NEW YEAR JENN

How fortunate that you didn't have any actual house flooding during this time! Even though you couldn't use any of the gadgets I bet there was more quality time spent!
Hugs, Karen
