What would you do?

Jason picked this up for me from the side of the road in the garbage.
Its a little worse for wear that I would have liked but I LOVE it!
Its small enough to go in my kitchen for extra storage and will be a great piece to display my Christmas decor on.

This is how it looked when he got home.

Ive been sanding away, a little at a time in the mornings while waiting for the bus and also in the afternoon. Ive got the top completely paint free, except the back piece. I WAS going to paint it black and wax the edges for wear and paint a creamish top coat but now wonder if I should.

Soooo, I'm looking for ideas, what would you do? I do want to keep the top piece wood and stain it. I love the look of the old wood. Al tho, this piece is not old or at least I don't think it is. I actually think someone made this. Threes no dovetail and the inside of the dresser looks like all types of different wood screwed in to "make-do".

Any suggestions?

Jenn, that is an awesome piece! You know I love black furniture! I think it will amke the wood top look so neat! Are you going to strip the little "backsplash" too?
I think you have a lot of options with this one!

I think all black is the way to go unless you can do the top a dark aged stain. Some times less is more! Can't wait to see whatever you decide !!

I would keep on doing what you are doing because it's going to look great...I would do the little piece in the back black though.

Jenn, When I did my table I stained the top & the legs were painted & now I have to paint my chairs. I would say all black if you can't get that one black part off. I love all black, too. It goes with everything. Take care of that ankle & have a good weekend.

I like a dark stain on the chest and a lighter coordinating one on the drawer fronts.

I got a free dresser and painted it black, and then I stenciled on it. Here's a link to my Webshots picture: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2601618760100962245NJqvLa?vhost=home-and-garden. Also, I LOVE your budgie. Ours is named Baby Blue--he's mostly white with a little blue. His cere hasn't turned blue yet, so he's a young-un. Yours looks so nice and tame. Our little one is still pretty scared; he wasn't hand trained when we got him and didn't have his wings clipped. I'm too scared to clip them:[]

Barb - your dresser is awesome. I LOVE the handles, very unique! Arent Budgies fun, they have so much personality for being so small!

I love the dresser and black is awesome. I agree that stripping to bare wood would be very pretty. Porcelain or glass knobs---stenciling with some prim figures or better yet--bittersweet.....
